Help Your Body Age Gracefully

Posted on Updated on

“Beautiful young people are accidents of nature, but beautiful old people are works of art.”
–Eleanor Roosevelt

Gold turns to Silver, Dark becomes Light…

Time shapes us…Here are some tips on how to age gracefully.

Feed your Body Well

  • Enjoy Your Food—what we tell our body becomes reality.
  • Learn to love Produce. Colorful fruits and vegetables provides many phytonutrients including anti-oxidants that help your body decrease inflammation which ages it rapidly.
  • Get adequate protein for your lean body mass. Protein is lost as you age. Amino acids are the building blocks for all life—your muscles, bones, and organs, your hormones, neurotransmitters, and immune factors, and especially all the enzymes that catalyze every bodily function. And essential amino acids come from protein!
  • Eat healthy fats. Especially omega 3 fatty fish. Olive oil, nut oils, coconut oil, flax and hemp seed oils, avocados provide good fats for healthy cell function and adequate hormone production.
  • Drink red wine. One of the most powerful antioxidants, this super anti-aging food is enjoyed by theMediterranean people who have some of the best ratings of health and longevity in the world.
  • Eat only whole grains—go sparingly on the refined grains and flours and especially processed foods which are stripped of nutrients.
  • Cleanse your body with Vegies—Stop fasting and start fueling your metabolism.

Exercise your Body Joyfully

  • Exercise at least 3-5 times per week. Aerobic exercise (activity that makes you breathe hard) can slow the aging process by stimulating mitochondrial growth and activity. At the cellular level, age is a process of declining energy production. And energy comes form abundant, healthy functioning mitochondria.
  • Be active all day to avoid the “sitting disease”. Sitting more than a couple of hours a day is associated with diabetes, heart disease, poor sleep, and cognitive decline.
  • Grow a Garden. Gardening is a physical activity that provides exercise, connection with the earth and home grown produce!
  • Walk everywhere you can. Depend less on motorized transportation and more on the perfect vehicle of your body.
  • Carry your own stuff. Upper body strength can be built and maintained as you age by continuing your daily activities.

Take care of your Brain

  • Play games. Cards and other memory games can increase memory and attention.
  • Engage with other people. Regular social interaction especially with people of different ages stimulates your brain.
  • Take a class. Learning a new skill increases attention, memory, and problem solving abilities.
  • Mind over Matter. If you believe you will age poorly, your body will manifest age-related decline.

Supplement Wisely

  • Antioxidants to help your cells clean house.
  • Omega 3’s to protect against inflammation.
  • Digestive aides to help assimilate nutrients form the foods you eat.
  • Probiotics to keep your gut healthy.
  • Super greens to provide your body with extra phytonutrients.
  • Amino acids to provide the building blocks for healthy brain function and rebuild tissues.
  • Plant based vitamins and minerals that are activated and easily absorbed.

And to help you simplify your supplement regime, I created Genesis Gold® which has all the anti-aging micronutrients to help you age more gracefully.

Excerpt from My LoveDance. Available on Amazon

Last minute doesn’t work for me. I am most like the goddess when all my bowls are spinning gracefully in the air. For me, last minute feels as if I’m a clown juggling too many balls knowing they’ll soon come tumbling down upon me.

I pack a week ahead. Just be sure I have everything and everything fits. I like to plan ahead for events, ready when the day comes. One of my dearest friends is a Last Minute Lizzie. Every Easter, she would invite us over and twenty more family and friends to celebrate. We would arrive early to help, and find that they were in the midst of a remodeling project (she liked to take advantage of the gathering to get her husband to fix up the house) and she would still need to shop! So off I would go with her while Steve stayed to help him and frantically we would get it together…rarely before the guests arrived… Read the rest of this entry »

Sacred Rites of Passage

Posted on Updated on

Sunday I was blessed by the Grandmothers. In the center of a circle of beloved women, I received an ancient empowerment. Afterwards in tears of gratitude, I addressed the Council of Grandmothers in Ojai, California.

A memory awakened of a time when these sacred rites of passage welcomed the infant into her earth family, the girl into womanhood, the woman into the council of sages, the elder into the spirit world.

Without these rites of passage, we have lost the sacred. Struggling to find our way in the world, we search in dark places risking our health and our wellbeing then spend years recovering.

Hold your hands in the prayer position, then open them to create an inverted V. That is the blade, a masculine symbol. Now turn your hands down placing the point of the V in your lap. That is the chalice, the symbol of the feminine.

How many of us women have had to turn their chalices upside down to use them as a blade and fend off the world? Read the rest of this entry »

Mining Your DNA – Your Mind Controls More Than You Think

Posted on Updated on

I’ve been teaching my patients for years that thought becomes manifest in our DNA. Our self-talk directs our DNA to dance accordingly…as healing or dis-ease. And Russian scientists have proven it!*

Consciously directing our DNA is why I created Genesis Gold®…I alchemized into the formula (which came to me in dreams) my heartfelt intention to optimize our genetic potential by balancing hormones, neurotransmitters and cytokines (tiny immune messengers) so our biochemistry sings harmoniously to our DNA. With the help of Genesis Gold®, many have healed themselves.* Read the rest of this entry »

How Hormones Affect Your Health – An Overview

Posted on Updated on

From Puberty to the Pause

Your hormone story began when you were in your mother’s womb. As a growing fetus your hormones were higher than they will ever be again. All those hormones helped you grow from a tiny zygote to a newborn baby. At birth, you entered a hormonal slump. Although growth occurs, hormones are naturally low in childhood. But at puberty, your hormones entered a fantastic rollercoaster.

First your adrenals started pumping out high levels of DHEA—a hormone needed to metabolize protein and fat for you to grow rapidly. DHEA converted to testosterone and hair began sprouting on your body and you developed body odor. DHEA then converted to estrogen and your breasts budded. A couple years later, your ovaries woke up and you had your first period. Read the rest of this entry »

Is Your Brain in a Fog? – Check Your Hormones

Posted on Updated on

If you ever “lost” something you just put down or entered a room and forgot why you went, you have experienced mental fog. It’s common when the sex steroids—specifically estrogen—decline, whether briefly in the premenstrual period or permanently at menopause or andropause (the male equivalence).

The link between brain function and hormones is well established. Elevated prolactin levels are associated with bipolar depression, schizophrenia, and mood disorders. Prolactin is naturally elevated in pregnant and lactating women – its name is derived from promoting lactation. In the rest of us, prolactin is naturally high at night providing the necessary anesthetic effect for our immune system to function properly. Prolactin blocks the receptor sites for steroid hormones making the brain impermeable to estrogen. Without estrogen, thought is impaired, serotonin levels drop, sleep becomes disturbed.

Hormones are not just a female phenomena. Low testosterone has also been implicated in mood disorders. Many of my male patients come in with prescriptions for anti-anxiety drugs or anti-depressants. No one checked their hormones. Many are suffering the effects of low testosterone production. With testosterone replacement or supplementation to encourage their own production, these men are much happier.

It’s Not a Hot Flash – It’s a Power Surge!

Posted on Updated on

As the interface between the energy of the environment and the matter of your body, hormones affect everything ~ Your moods, your memory, your metabolism.

Your appearance, your aging, your appetite. Your sleep patterns, your stress response, your sex drive. Everything.

When I refer to hormones, I mean all the body’s messengers—the traditional hormones of the endocrine system, the neurotransmitters of the neurological system and the cytokines of the immune system. All of these act as hormones affecting everything we do, everything we feel, everything we think.

Living in today’s fast paced, high-stressed world of the interminable electric light and too many manmade carbohydrates create havoc with our hormones.

Think of the hormones as the software program of the human computer. Many of us are so Hormonally Challenged that we need a software update!

The neuro-immune-endocrine system is so complicated that I am going to focus on female sex hormones. Fortunately learning about these hormones will provide a foundation to understanding the rest of the system.

Let’s talk about Your Sex Hormones…

5.0 out of 5 stars Wish this had been available years ago

By Dolly Arons on April 2, 2016

This book is packed full of useful information for both men and women. When you read the title, don’t think just sex hormones–estrogen, progesterone, testosterone.

The author is talking about the endocrine system, the immune system, and how the cells in our body interact. Think in terms of the neuro-immune-endocrine system.

This book is easy to read and understand so that we can start on the road to understanding the foundation of why we feel the way we do.

My deepest appreciation for everyone who posted a review.

Please share Hormones in Harmony® with your friends and loved ones so that they might enjoy optimal health too.
